April 30, 2026: Peekaboo

Today the chicks are noticeably larger — so large in fact that they are no longer all quite fitting neatly underneath the Mother Kestrel during nap time. And, the chicks’ eyes are all clearly open and looking around a lot today.

In this video, some chicks play peekaboo, peeking out from beneath Mom. She tries to tuck them back in, but also watch underneath her wings.
A late breakfast of lizard. Notice that the chicks’ eyes are open and looking around more now.
Continued lizard lunch. Notice how the Female Kestrel moves around the box, so different chicks get fed.
